The "Daring challenge" of the genius of the sixties. In Kiev, will open a large-scale exhibition of works by the artist Boris Plaksii
August 23 in the exhibition hall of the auction house "Golden Section" (Kiev, Pervomayskogo St., 4) will open a personal project of one of the most unique artists of the sixties Boris Plaksii "Daring Challenge."
The thorny life path of an outstanding author who, both in creativity and in everyday life, never changed the ideals of the sixties, contributed to the flourishing of his multi-genre creativity.
During the exhibition, the public will see more than 30 works by the artist, monumentalist, sculptor, illustrator, graphic artist and philosopher Plaxius. The project almost for the first time gives an opportunity to get acquainted with a wide retrospective of the different periods of creativity of the original author.
A well-known portraitist, he painted on his canvases such famous personalities as Alla Gorskaya, Vasily Stus, Vyacheslav Chernovol, Vasily Simonenko, Ivan Drach, Pavel Tychina. Several well-known portraits of the author visitors will see during the exposition.
In many of his canvases, the master reflected the dramatic pages of Ukrainian history, the martyrdom of the Ukrainians for the freedom of their native land. Boris Plaxius is an artist with great power and extraordinary talent. His true was often measured at the cost of his own sacrifice.
"I agree with the words of the outstanding Ukrainian contemporary artist Ivan Marchuk, who called Boris Plaxia" a man of the millennium. " Plaxius was driven by Soviet power. He was the one who signed a collective letter against de-Stalinization in Ukraine and did not "repent sincerely" after the threats and actions of the authorities. His work is filled not only with high artistic value, in the artist's works there is a whole history of the country," says Mikhail Vasilenko, co-owner of the auction house "Golden Section".
The exhibition will last until September 12, entrance for all comers is free. The exhibition is open from 11:00 to 18:00. Sunday is a day off. Additional holiday weekend: August 24-26.
About Boris Plaksii: Boris Plaksii was born on August 21, 1937 in the city of Smila, Cherkasy region. He studied at the Dnepropetrovsk Art College. He graduated from the Kiev Art Institute. He is one of the most famous monumental artists of Ukraine (1960-1970s). For anti-Soviet propaganda, he was persecuted and deprived of many opportunities for creative development as an artist. Honored Artist of Ukraine. Laureate of the National Taras Shevchenko Prize (2007). He died in 2012.
