Samuel Brecher (1897-1982) is an American artist of Ukrainian descent. Born in Boryslav (Lviv region). Emigrated to the United States. He studied painting at the National Academy of Design in New York, then at Charles Hawthorne, a prominent American artist and educator. He spent many personal exhibitions, was a regular member of the National Academy of Design (New York), and also participated in a large number of collective exhibitions throughout the United States and Mexico. He taught at the School of Fine Arts. Member of art associations such as Audubon Artists, Allied Artists, Nat. Soc. Casein Painters, NJ Painters & Sculptors Soc. Brecher's works are stored in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Smithsonian, Newark Museum and Walker Art Center.
