Author Biography
Max Ernst (1891-1976) is a German and French artist. Born in Brühl, Germany. He studied at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Bonn. Participant in numerous exhibitions (since 1912). Participant in the First World War was wounded. In 1932 the printed collage novels with Ernst wood engravings were published. During the Second World War, he was arrested twice. He was married to Peggy Guggenheim, a well-known captor. Member of the Venice Biennale in 1954. He lived and worked in Paris.
