Biography of the author
Mykola Grokh (born 1936) is a painter and graphic artist. He was born in Leningrad, where the family fled from his native Polissya village from the Holodomor. At the age of three he returned to his homeland, to the village of Petrovsk. Since childhood, he was interested in drawing. The first works in his teens were updated cornices for the local church and portraits of fellow villagers killed in the war. He moved to Kyiv (1952). He graduated from the Kyiv Art School of Fine Arts in the Department of Art Textiles (1957) and the Kyiv State Art Institute (1965). The teachers were V. Kasiyan and T. Lyashchuk. During his studies he worked in the Art Fund of the USSR. Began to participate in exhibitions (since 1965). He is the founder and head of the art studio of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, teaches watercolor painting in the group (since 1994). People's Artist of Ukraine. Lives and works in Kyiv.
