Biography of the author

Erdeli Adalbert (1891-1955) - Ukrainian painter, worked mainly in genre of portraiture, landscape, still life. One of the founders of Transcarpathian school of fine art. Born in Zahattia, Transcarpathian region. He studied at Budapest Academy of Arts (under I. Revesz, A. Grunwald). He lived in Mukachevo (since 1916), Munich (1922-1926), Uzhhorod (since 1926) and Paris (1929-1931). Together with I. Bokshay he founded the Uzhhorod Art School (1927), The Society of leaders in Fine Arts in Subcarpathian Rus (1931). He taught drawing at Mukachevo gymnasium, teachers' seminary in Uzhhorod and at Uzhhorod School of Applied Art (1945-1955).
