Exhibition
Oleksii Shovkunenko. Impressions of realism
Press release
"Aleksii Shovkunenko. Impressions of realism"
From May 8 to 25, an exhibition project dedicated to the 140th anniversary of one of the most iconic Ukrainian painters of the 20th century - Oleksiy Shovkunenko, will be held in the hall of the Goldens auction house.
The formation of the artist's creative method took place under the influence of learning from such artists as K. Kostandi, G. Ladyzhenskyi, D. Krainev, V. Savynskyi, the artistic group "World of Art", as well as the achievements of the French school of painting. Later, as a professor at the Odesa and Kyiv art institutes, he, in turn, influenced the formation of a constellation of talented artists, among whom were, in particular, O. Maksimenko, S. Adamovych, O. Lopukhov and V. Puzyrkov.
Over 60 years of creative activity, the works of Oleksiy Shevkunenko included psychological portraits, still lifes, industrial and lyrical landscapes. The exhibition selection includes 33 paintings and graphic works of the 1920s-1960s, which represent a wide range of genres, a variety of techniques, and the artist's fine sense of color.
The works create the impression of an instantly captured moment, works created directly from nature. Their variety perfectly illustrates the creative method of Oleksiy Shevkunenko, built on the use of a wide and slow stroke, the "watercolor" nature of writing even in paintings, complex compositional construction, purity of colors and filigree color nuances.
The artist's watercolors and pastels, presented at the exhibition, are vivid evidence of his talent as a draftsman and colorist, and his paintings are not inferior to other works of the author from museum collections in terms of skill and significance.
The exhibition can be visited from May 8 to 25, without days off.
Regarding the acquisition of works included in the collection of the exhibition project "Aleksii Shovkunenko. Impressions of realism", contact the specialists of the Goldens auction house in the exhibition hall and in the online catalog by pressing the "Interesting" button.
