Konstantin Kluge (1912-2003) was a French artist. Born in Riga, Latvia. He spent most of his childhood and youth between Manchuria, Beijing and Hong Kong, where he discovered a love for brush and ink painting. Kluge studied architecture at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, where he received a diploma (1937). After graduation, he returned to Shanghai. With the rise of communism in China, the artist fled to Paris (1950) and began exhibiting in French salons. Joined the Société des Artistes Français and established himself as a permanent artist. Received a silver medal at the Salon (1961), as well as the Raymond Perrault Prize awarded by the Taylor Foundation; gold medal (1962). He was honored for his contribution to French culture by receiving the Legion of Honor medal from President François Mitterrand at the Elysée Palace (1987). Died in Paris, France. Kluge's works are in the collections of the Musée d'Orsay and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris.
