Auction of collectible graphics by Ukrainian artists
The Goldens Kyiv auction house (4 Leonida Pervomaiskyi St.) presents a selection of collectible graphic works by Ukrainian artists, which were included in the collection of the 59th auction "Ukrainian Collectable Graphics of the 20th - 21st Centuries". The auction will take place from January 25 to February 6, 2024 in the hall of the auction house and online on the organizer's website (www.gs-art.com).
The subject of the current auction is Ukrainian collectible graphics of famous masters from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day, the presented works of which are made in various techniques - from limited edition graphics (etching, linocut, xylography and lithography) to drawings and watercolors. Graphics are considered the oldest form of fine art, but still remain undervalued in the context of artistic heritage. Graphics have the widest range of functions, types, genres, artistic means, which in their totality create unlimited possibilities for the image and figurative interpretation of the world, the expression of the artist's feelings and thoughts. There are also different methods of communication between the viewer and graphic works — from the mass effect of a poster to the intimate perception of a sketch, illustration, miniature works that require careful consideration. Important features of graphics are its ability to quickly respond to current events, the convenience of replication in many copies, the possibility of successive disclosure of the idea in a series of images. In graphic works of the 20th - 21st centuries. trends of individualistic aestheticism, narrowly formal and technical experiments are followed.
The collection of the current auction is so wide in terms of the representativeness of graphics as a type of fine art that the works can be divided both by belonging to a certain type, genre, period, and by correspondence to a certain art school. In total, more than 50 works of Ukrainian masters are presented at the auction.
Among the iconic works of the beginning of the 20th century. the works of Mykhailo Zhuk, Hryhoriy Svitlytskyi and Mykhailo Deregus are put up for auction. The works of artists of the second half of the 20th century also deserve the attention of collectors, including representatives of the Lviv, Odesa, Zakarpattia and Kyiv schools of painting, as well as émigré artists and representatives of the underground: V.
