CONTEMPORARY ART
On April 28, 2012, the auction of Ukrainian and Russian contemporary art will be held at the M17 CCA. Auction house "Golden Section", well known to Ukrainian collectors of contemporary art, this time will present a new collection of works by key artists of Ukraine and Russia of the last three decades.
The collection can be conditionally divided into three segments that are quite representative of the domestic artistic context: the turning point of the late 80s and early 90s, the most noticeable phenomena of the first years of independence, and the art of the 2000s.
In historical terms, of particular interest is the turn of the 80-90s, which recorded the crisis moods of those years, the discrepancy between internal and external, the discord of the system that led to irreversible consequences. The paradigm shift that took place could not but be reflected in the language of art. "The Mill of the Proletariat" (Azhazha, 1989), "Kremlin" from the series "Tables" (group "Peppers", 1992) belong to Sots Art, the most expressive artistic phenomenon of the transitional period. Of particular interest is the work of the Russian duet Fomsky "I declare war on Russia" in 1989.
The first years of independence were marked by qualitative transformations in art. All the brightest and most notable artistic practices of the 90s are also represented in the current collection. The picturesque line, originating from the Ukrainian line of the transavant-garde, is represented by the brilliant names of Dmitry Kavsan, Alexander Roitburd, Pavel Kerestey, Valeria Trubina, Sergey Lykov, Oleg Migas and Anatoly Gankevich. Non-figurative searches for ex-members of the "Picturesque Reserve" group - by the works of Tiberius Silvashi, Alexander Zhivotkov, Nikolai Krivenko.
