Shimon Okshteyn (b. 1951) - a famous contemporary Ukrainian origin American artist. Born in Chernivtsi in a family of immigrants from the Jewish agricultural colonies Kepresht (Moldova). He graduated from Odesa Hrekov State Art School (1970). Moved to New York (1979). Okshteyn works are in the collections of the New York Museum of Modern American Art Whitney, the Brooklyn museum and private collections around the world.
