Peter Phillips (born 1939) is a British artist. Born in Birmingham, England. Graduated from the Birmingham School of Arts (1959). He taught at the Coventry College of Art and the Birmingham College of Arts (1962-1963). He was presented at the Paris Biennale (1963). Subsequently, his works in the pop-up style were presented at numerous Euripopian exhibitions. He received the Harkness Society Award (1964). He lived in New York City (1964-1966), where he held his first personal exhibition at the Kornblee Gallery (1965). A year later Phillips returned to Europe and worked as a teacher at the School of the Arts in Hamburg (Germany) (1968-1969). He traveled a lot in Africa, the Far East and the United States, and lived for 10 years in Zurich (Switzerland). Constantly exhibited in Europe and the United States. Most of his works are in the collection of the gallery Tate Modern (London). Lives and works in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Sydney.
