Author Biography
Fernand Leger (Joseph Fernand Henri Leger) (1881-1955) - French expressionist painter, graphic artist, sculptor, master of decorative art. Born in the city. Argentan, France. He received a two-year architectural education and moved to Paris, where he worked as a draftsman in an architect (1900-1902). He was a volunteer at the Higher School of Fine Arts. Entered the Higher School of Decorative Arts (1903). Attend courses and Jerome Ferrier, and the Academy Julia set. In early works Leger noticeable impact of Cubism and Impressionism. Active member "Independent Salon" (1910). Together with Braque and Picasso was instrumental in the formation and propagation of cubism. After the First World War was to use a lot of technocratic character. The artist's work has influenced the formation neoplastytsyzmu in the Netherlands and constructivism in the Soviet Union.
