Author Biography
Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778) - an outstanding Italian graphic artist, architect, archaeologist. As the architect-practitioner, Piranesi built the Church of Santa Maria Maltese Priory on the hill of Aventine (1764-1765). The Pope instructed him to build a choir in the church of San Giovanni in Laterano. He was buried in the Church of Santa Maria, built by him in Rome.
