Author Biography
Andriy Bokotei (born 1938) is a Ukrainian artist and sculptor. Born in the village Brid in Transcarpathia. He graduated from the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts, department of artistic ceramics (1965), where he studied with R. Selskyi, K. Zvirynskyi, D. Dovboshinskyi, and B. Smirnov. He was educated at the "underground spiritual school of Karl Zvirynskyi" (1960s). Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 1970). Honored Artist (since 1989). Rector of the Lviv Academy of Arts (since 2000). Active member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine (since 2001). Laureate of the National Prize of Ukraine named after T. G. Shevchenko (2002). Works in the field of decorative and architectural-art glass: sculpture, three-dimensional plastic, wall layers. The compositions are figurative and metaphorical, pictorial and abstract. Participant of more than 80 regional, republican, all-Union and international art exhibitions (since 1963). Lives and works in Lviv.
