Author Biography

Babak Oleksandr (born in 1957) - Ukrainian painter, author of objects and installations. Born in Kyiv. Graduated from the Kyiv Institute of fine arts and architecture (workshop of monumental painting). He studied under M. Storozhenko and V. Chekaniuk (1984). Member of National Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 1988). Representative of the New Ukrainian current in art, member of artistic group «Picturesque Reserve», an influential group of artists in the newest history of Ukrainian art (1991—1995). He represented Ukraine during the 51st Venice Biennale (2005). Awarded an Order «For achievements» of the III grade (a national award). Lives and works in Kyiv.
