Author Biography
Serhii Svitoslavskyi (1857-1931) was a Ukrainian painter. He studied at the Academy of Arts and Sciences (1875-1883) under V. Petrov and O. Savrasov. In 1884, he settled in Kyiv. The member of numerous exhibitions (since 1984). Member of The Wanderers (since 1891). Participated in the work of the satirical magazine "Shershen" (1905-1907), helped students of Kyiv Art School. His early works are characterized by romantic features. At the end of the 1880s, Svitoslavskyi's creative vision was finally formed. His works are distinguished by juicy colors and the skill of imparting education. The artist's works have a high artistic value and occupy a worthy place in the best museums and collections of the world.
