Auction of exclusive classics at Goldens auction house

On October 17, the silent auction of the 58th auction "COLLECTIBLE CLASSIC ART" will begin at the Goldens auction house (Kyiv, 4 Leonida Pervomaiskyi str.). The auction collection brought together about 50 works of collectible Ukrainian art of the 19th and 20th centuries, including paintings, graphics and sculptures by famous Ukrainian masters.

In parallel with the silent auction, an exhibition of the auction lots will begin, where everyone will be able to familiarize themselves with the presented works in detail and take part in the bidding. Bids for lots are accepted online on the website of the auction house at the link https://gs-art.com/ from October 17 to 25. The final of the auction will be held on October 25 (Wednesday) at 19:00. At this time, step-by-step closing of lots at the last current rate or final bidding for lots will begin.

"Preparation for the auction is a long and thorough process. We always try to find the rare and most valuable works on the art market, which will be able to excite collectors, - notes the director of the auction house, art critic Mykhailo Vasylenko, - However, the current market conditions and circumstances require us not only to search for bright and unique works, but also force to select the best examples of the brightest representatives of Ukrainian art. These are items that are usually sold once and "settle" in private collections for decades. It is this level of artwork that is now in demand among collectors. Therefore, now we are not just trying to find a museum-level work in the collections, for example, by Serhii Svitoslavskyi, Abram Manevich, Adalbert Erdeli, Mykola Hlushchenko or Viktor Zaretskyi, but we are looking for collections that began to form in the middle of the 20th century, often contacting collectors abroad, we review dozens of works from different periods, select the most interesting pieces of collectible art and present them to the general public at the exhibition of the auction collection."

The collection of the current auction is a retrospective of the classical school of Ukrainian painting starting from the end of the 19th century. and until the end of the 20th century. From the end of the 19th century. art on the territory of modern Ukraine, which was then divided between different countries, is actively developing and increasingly acquiring national features. In that period, urban landscapes and genre compositions began to dominate. Among the bright representatives of that time at the current auction, it is worth noting Serhiy Vasylkivskyi, who is called the poet of Ukrainian painting for the extraordinary lyricism of his landscapes, and as a confirmation of this, his small, but masterful, painting "Landscape with a Sailboat" is presented at the auction; another master of fine landscape, Serhii Svitoslavskyi, in whose works a large number of works are dedicated to the Dnipro River, is represented in the auction collection by the light-bearing canvas "Kyiv. Longboats on the Dnieper"; the works of Ivan Trush of the same period, but of different sizes and plots - "Waterfall" and "Bedouin in the desert" convey the real atmosphere that prevailed outside the master's brush.

In the block of classical painting, emigrant artists deserve special attention, although they worked mostly in Europe and adopted the traditions of the Eastern European school of painting, but their names are inscribed in the history of national Ukrainian culture, which was not limited to borders. Petro Nilus is represented by the work "Park Marazli", which he created even before he migrated to Paris and dedicated it to Odesa. The works of the modernist artist Abram Manevich determined the artistic innovations of the time, which is clearly visible in his work "Autumn. Kyiv", which was also created before the emigration period. The early works of these masters are a rare find for every collector. Vasyl Krychevskyi, a representative of the lyrical "Ukrainian impressionism", although he mainly painted landscapes of Ukrainian cities and villages, however, after his forced migration to Caracas in 1944, he more often turned to painting still lifes. It is from this period that his work presented at the auction "Still Life with Oriental Objects" originates. Mykola Krychevskyi is a master of the lyrical urban landscape represented by the work "Seny River Embankment. Paris", which was created during the artistic flowering of the artist. Yakir Shapiro in his work "French motif", traditionally for the artist, created his unique world on canvas with unusual shapes and bright colors. One of the most famous Ukrainian avant-garde artists of the end of the 19th century, Oleksiy Hryshchenko, is represented in the auction collection by the work "Still Life with Shells".

The next stage of the development of the classical school of painting falls on the end of the 20th century. and was marked by the flourishing of artistic currents, schools and directions. The diversity of this period in the history of Ukrainian art can be traced among the TOP lots of the "COLLECTIBLE CLASSIC ART" auction collection. Collectors deserve special attention: the incredible landscape of the French period of Adalbert Erdely's work "Landscape. Chaville. France"; a rare post-impressionist landscape by Mykola Hlushchenko "Sunset"; the traditional saturation of the color range, which Fedor Zakharov considered, can be traced in his work "Autumn Roses"; Victor Zaretsky and his work "Kiss", with unusual provenance, which was added by his wife after the author's death from a self-portrait work; landscape "Autumn Motif", rare for Oleksiy Shevkunenko's large-scale work. The block is complemented by the works of Yosyp Bokshay, Serhiy Shyshko, Konstantin Lomykin, Mykhailo Bozhiy and others.

Alternative art, the active development of which falls on the end of the 20th century, is represented in the selection of the current auction by such names as: Viktor Gontarov, whose works are extremely rarely sold; Volodymyr Makarenko, whose works are mostly presented in galleries and private collections in Europe; representatives of naive painting Oleksandr Semernya and Fedir Primachenko; polystylistic artist Dmytro Nagurny; the most famous Ukrainian ceramist Olga Rapai and others.

Also, during the silent auction, it will be possible to bid on the works of V. Menk, H. Svitlytskyi, O. Novakivskyi, P. Tereshchuk, M. Korochanskyi, M. Isayev, M. Mavro, A. Boretskyi, A. Kotskyi, I. Bilyk, V. Patyk, P. Heidyka, K. Lomykina, M. Shelyuta, G. Kalchenko, I. Gubsky and others.
