Auction #52
CLASSIC & CONTEMPORARY ART
Press release
From September 28 to October 6, 2022, autumn auctions of Ukrainian collectible art will be held in the hall of the GOLDENS auction house. The selection of auction #52 "CLASSIC & CONTEMPORARY ART" included about 40 paintings, graphic works and sculptures of the most famous Ukrainian artists of the 20th-21st centuries. Among the works in the collection, many works have a long exhibition history and provenance, were published in books and albums, participated in various exhibitions and projects, which certainly indicates their high value.
The CLASSIC & CONTEMPORARY ART pre-auction exhibition and silent auction will begin on September 28. The exposition can be seen until October 6 inclusive. Bids for lots are accepted in the silent auction mode in the exhibition hall and on the website www.gs-art.com in the catalog section of the 52nd auction. You can bid on auction lots until 19:00 on October 6.
Among the TOP lots of the auction is a rare industrial landscape by Mykola Gluothchenko "At the Kanivskaya GRES" (1976). The industrial theme of this unsurpassed landscape master is really a rare find among collectors, because the author created very few such subjects. In Hlushchenko's traditional impressionistic manner, he managed to turn a harsh plot into a bright and light landscape that you want to explore.
The work of another famous Ukrainian landscape painter, the founder of the Transcarpathian school of painting, Yosyp Bokshay, "Synevyr. Polonyna Rozhok" (1951). Fascinated by genre scenes from folk life, in the post-war period, Bokshay worked fruitfully on creating a majestic image of the nature of the rare land. By combining folk customs and the beauty of the Carpathians, Yosyp Bokshay created a series of museum-level works. The story is identical to the work "Synevir. Polonyna Rozhok" (1950) is presented in the exposition of the Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum named after Y. Bokshay.
Another top lot of the auction collection is Ivan Marchuk's collection work "This house is open for you" ("Don't pass my house"). Created in 2003, the work is part of the "Landscapes" cycle, which covers half a century of the artist's creative range. Executed in Marchuk's own unique technique - plontanism, this work has an exceptional collector's value, because most of such works are in the collection of Ivan Marchuk himself, who, as you know, very rarely puts works up for sale. The work presented at the auction was exhibited at many exhibitions, as well as published in three albums of the author.
The list of unique lots in the exhibition is complemented by Maria Prymachenko's work "Grown tickets in a small pot, delighting little children" (1986). Work from a series of the author's favorite subject - flowers. Maria Prymachenko often said: "I make sunny flowers because I love people, I make them for the joy and happiness of people, so that all peoples love each other, so that they live like flowers all over the earth...". The reinterpretation of these words by the most famous Ukrainian artist now gives additional meaning to the work. The work presented at the auction was published in the album "Maria Pryimachenko. Art album from private collections".
The central lots in the Classical Art block were: the unique "Night Landscape" (1930s) by the second leading Transcarpathian artist, Adalbert Erdely; the bright mountain landscape of Gavril Gluk "Carpathians" (1975); the colorful masterpiece "Garden Flowers" (1984) by the famous sixties avant-garde artist Ferenc Seman and the genre composition "Meeting in the Field" (1940s) by Roman Selsky and others.
The collection of works by emigrant artists is also an important part of the collection. You can participate in the auction for Vasyl Khmelyuk's collection of works "Paysage à Tavers (Landscape in the Tavern)" (1960s); Yakov Shapiro "The Beehive (La Ruche)" (1947); Simhy Simkhovich "Still Life with Flowers and Fruits" (1930); Mykhailo Tkachenko "Country Street (France)" (1910s).
You will be able to replenish your collection with exclusively collectible top lots of the block of contemporary art - "Guantanamera" (1995) by Marina Skugareva, "The Call" (1993) by Ilya Chychkan, diptych by Serhii Svyatchenko "Visual Information" (1990), "Tenth Street" (2001 ) by Tatiana Golembievska, "Still Life #2" (2022) by Yuriy Koval and others.
Also, four different sculptural works will be put up for auction, including "Elegy" by Mykhailo Tsvetkov, "Container II" by Nazar Bilyk, "Cain and Abel" by Yury Bagalika and "Retreating" by Oleksandr Sukholit.
The online catalog of the auction will be available from September 27 on the website of the GOLDENS auction house www.gs-art.com.
