"Russian warship go fuck yourself" from series "Repeating speech"
paper, coal
50 x 65 cm
The project was created for the exhibition pavilion of the Vienna Secession. After the outbreak of full-scale war, the board committee invited the author to design the entrance group of the Secession. Kadan's works are direct, frankly aggressive slogans - a protest against war with all its horrors and cruelty.

Works from the "Repeating Speech" series depict simple political slogans made after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Each slogan is written several times on one sheet of paper. Writing "Shut the sky", "Fuck the war", "Stop Putin", "Cheap gas, cheap blood", "Russian ship go to x*" and other slogans that were actively used during protests against the Russian invasion turned into a process of endless repetition, turning political speech into an incantation. Verbal protest against the ongoing war resembles a magical practice.
