Toyohara Kunichika (1838-1903) - Japanese artist of the second half of the 19th century, master of color woodcuts. He was born in Edo. From a young age, he worked as an artist in the trade benches (1846-1847), after which he became a disciple of Toyohara Tikanobu, who then recommended the young artist to the most famous graphic artist of the time - Utagawa Kunisadi. In the 1860's he found his own individual style. The artist's works were exhibited at the World Exhibition in Paris (1867), in Chicago (1893). The leading themes of the work include kabuki theater actors, women, historical scenes and landscapes.
