Alexander Stovbur (1943-2019) was a painter, graphic artist, author of monumental art. He was born in Omsk (Russia). He received his art education at the Odesa State Art School (1967-1971). He participated in unofficial ‘apartment’ exhibitions of the 70s; in the unofficial exhibition "Contemporary Art from Ukraine. Munich-London-New York-Paris" (1979). Since the late 80s, he has participated in exhibitions of contemporary painting in Ukraine and abroad. Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (1987), member of the creative association ‘Mamai’ (1998), honorary member of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. He lived and worked in Odesa.
