Biography
Yershov Mikhail Ivanovich (1901-1982) - theater artist and painter. Born in the town of Yelets, Lipetsk region, Russia. He studied at the Kharkiv Art Institute (1925-1930), teachers - S. Prokhorov and O. Khvostenko-Khvostov. From 1930-1940 he worked as an artist-scenographer in theaters of Kyiv and Kharkov. In Kharkov, he worked closely with A. Petrytsky.In 1940 he moved to Lviv. Worked in the theater of opera and ballet. Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 1947). From the end of 1940 he worked in the field of easel painting. Known as a landscape painter, portrait painter, master of realistic drawing. Personal exhibitions in Lviv (1982) and St. Petersburg (1995), both - posthumous. The works of Ershov are kept at the National Museum of Lviv, the Theater Museum named after. O. Bakhrushin (Moscow), MTMC of Ukraine (Kyiv) and private collections. Died in Lviv.
