Biography
Vasetskyi Hryhoriy Stepanovych (1928-2019) is a Ukrainian painter. He graduated from the Kyiv Art School (1948) and the Kyiv Art Institute (1955), where he studied with O. Shovkunenko and V. Puzyrkov. He works in the field of thematic painting. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1971). People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1979). Member of the National Union of Artists. Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2001). Participated in republican, all-Union and international art exhibitions. Awarded: Honorary Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR (1968), medals “For Valiant Labor” (1970), “Veteran of Labor” (1986). The artist's works are kept in museums and private collections in Ukraine and abroad. Romantic tendencies and characteristic coloristic solutions are noticeable in the artist's landscape and portrait paintings.
