Press release
On December 10-18, the Goldens auction house will hold the winter auction "Ukrainian Contemporary Art", which will present collectible works by leading Ukrainian artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

The selection brings together iconic names in Ukrainian art, including Oleg Holosiy, Oleksandr Roitburd, Pavlo Makov, Ivan Marchuk, Anatoliy Kryvolap, Oleksandr Zhyvotkov, Tiberiy Silvashi, Marko Geiko, Oleksandr Babak, Yuriy Solomko, Oleg Tistol, Viktor Sydorenko, Matviy Vaisberg, Oleksandr Sukholit, Petro Antip. The presented works demonstrate a wide panorama of artistic approaches - from transavant-garde to modern conceptual practices, plastic arts and unique authorial techniques. The collection includes both museum-quality and rare works, as well as important examples of modern Ukrainian painting, graphics and sculpture.

A special highlight of the auction will be the presentation of rare works by Yuriy Solomko, Oleg Holosiy, Oleksandr Hnylytskyi, Valeria Trubina, Oleksandr Roitburd - artists of the "new wave" generation, who formed the artistic breakthrough of the late 1980s - early 1990s and laid the foundation for the development of modern Ukrainian art. The auction selection also presents key figures of the legendary art group "Picturesque Reserve": Anatoliy Kryvolap, Marko Geiko, Tiberii Silvashi, Oleksandr Zhyvotkov, Oleksandr Babak.

The auction forms a unique cross-section of Ukrainian artistic development in recent decades and allows you to see exactly how the transition from the Soviet system to Ukrainian contemporary art took place. This is the layer that defined the face of the new artistic language and remains a magnet for collectors, researchers and art connoisseurs.

Among the top lots of the auction are the work “Two Parallels” (1992) from Ivan Marchuk’s key cycle “The Voice of My Soul”, a rare early work by Oleg Holosiy “Mermaid” (1989), “Tymanivka. Evening” (1987) by Oleksandr Zhyvotkov, the landscape by Anatoly Kryvolap “Road to the Field” (2010), “Still Life” by Marko Geiko (1996), a multiple intaglio by Pavel Makov from the series “Botanical Garden”, “Morning Toilet” (1991) by Yuriy Solomko, “Find Aliens” (2019) by Roman Minin, “Ambulance” (2003) by Oleksandr Hnylytsky.

Also, for the first time in the auction selection, Goldens Auction House will present a large work “Guignhnma” by Anatoly Melnyk, a Ukrainian artist with a distinguished professional biography, known as one of the key figures in the institutional and artistic environment of Ukraine.

The block of young artists demonstrates the dynamics and diversity of the new creative generation in the works of Roman Minin, Yuriy Koval, Mykyta Kravtsov and Petro Hronsky. In their works, they rethink modernity through various media: from urban narratives and visual experiments to figurative pictorial language, sharp symbolism and plastic expressiveness.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from December 10 to 18 in the hall of the Goldens auction house, and also - for familiarization - online at www.gs-art.com. For registration and participation in the auction, please call: +38 050 462 95 32 or register on the website to be able to place online bids yourself.

The final bidding will begin with the closing of lots - December 18 (Thursday) at 19:00 online on the website www.gs-art.com.
