Press release
From January 29 to February 6, the Goldens auction house will host online auctions of the 66th auction "Ukrainian Collectible Graphics". The exhibition presents 54 works by prominent Ukrainian artists of the 19th-21st centuries. The exhibition unites works in thematic blocks that reveal the diversity of artistic styles, geographical contexts and time.

The selection includes, in particular, works by: Erno Erb, Kostyantyn Trutovsky, Borys Anisfeld, Oleksandr Bogomazov, Ivan Babiy, David Burliuk, Mykola Glushchenko, Leonid Geshtoff, Mykhailo Zhuk, Maria Prymachenko, Igor Grigoriev, Serhiy Grigoriev, Anatoly Lymarev, Valentin Khrushch.

Among the works of authors who worked at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries, special attention is paid to the watercolor of Konstantin Trutovsky with a scene of Ukrainian life, as well as the set design of Boris Anisfeld for the opera “The Blue Bird” at the Metropolitan Opera.

The spirit of modernism and avant-garde experiments in graphics are represented by the works of such iconic figures as Mykhailo Zhuk, Vadim Meller, Oleksandr Bogomazov, Boris Kosarev, Ivan Babiy and David Burliuk. The works of these artists demonstrate revolutionary approaches to color, form and space, which became the basis for the new artistic thinking of the early 20th century.

The Kharkiv Art School is represented by the works of Vasyl Kasiyan - a key figure of the Kharkiv graphic school - and Boris Kosarev, whose watercolors reflect the aesthetics of modernism and constructivism.

Among the works of the Soviet period, special attention is drawn to the graphic works of Sergei Grigoriev, Mikhail Turovsky, Georgy Yakutovych and Mykola Glushchenko, which demonstrate an individual style and vivid experiments against the background of the officially approved style of socialist realism. The works of artists of the sixties and non-conformists, in particular: Viktor Zaretsky, Anatoly Lymarev and Valentin Khrushchev, deserve special attention.

The modern block is represented by the work of Ivan Marchuk from the series “New Expressions”, a large-format etching by Oleksandr Sukholit and two etchings by Pavel Makov.

The top lots of the auction selection were rare collectible works: “Nude” by Ivan Babiy (1920-), “View of the Potters” (1915) by Oleksandr Bogomazov, watercolor by Boris Kosarev (1922), portrait “Lucy” by Mykhailo Zhuk (1904), etching by Pavel Makov from the “Utopia” series, works “Sunflowers” (1971) and “Mornings” (1972) by Mykola Glushchenko, scenography by Boris Anisfeld (1919), “Portrait of Art Critic Anderson” (1926) by Saveliy Sorin, “Horses” (1929) by Vadim Meller and “Sin” (1860s) by Kostyantyn Trutovsky.
