Biography of the author
Irving Lehman (1900-1982) - American artist and sculptor, representative of abstract expressionism. Born in Kyiv. He lived in exile in the USA. He studied at the Art Students League and at the Cooper Union School in New York. He was a member of the Congress of American Artists, the American Association of Abstract Artists, and other avant-garde trends. Together with many Russian artists, he participated in the WPA project (a federal program aimed at promoting art). Personal exhibitions: Whitney Museum, National Academy (New York), Albany Institute, Brooklyn Museum, Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. He has taught at Brooklyn and New York art colleges.
