Press release
From February 26 to March 6, the Goldens auction house will present a pre-auction exhibition of the 67th auction “Ukrainian Collectible Art”. The selection is a true cross-section of the Ukrainian artistic tradition, combining the realistic school, impressionistic searches, alternative art and the bright colors of national painting.

The selection includes, in particular, works by: Oleg Minko, Oleksa Zakharchuk, Fedor Manaylo, Vadym Ignatov, Yuriy Yegorov, Mykola Glushchenko, Tetyana Yablonska, Viktor Zaretsky, Borys Pastukhov, Ferenc Seman, Valery Lamakh, Konstantin Lomykin, Valentyn Khrushch, Ivan Marchuk, Maria Prymachenko.

The Transcarpathian school of painting in the auction selection is represented by works by Yosyp Bokshay, Fedor Manaylo and Ferenc Seman. The landscapes are filled with rich colors and dynamic strokes that create the effect of living light, and the combination of expression of forms and color in the work of Ferenc Seman only confirms the phenomenon of the wide artistic range of the school, the originality of the author's vision and regional specificity at the same time.

The art of the Kyiv school is represented by the works of Mykola Hlushchenko, Tetyana Yablonska, Viktor Zaretsky and Valery Lamakh. One of the characteristic features of the Kyiv school was the artists' experiments with form and depth of meaning. Mykola Hlushchenko's still life, presented in the selection, belongs to the works of the first row of the artist in this genre. The work belongs to the works of museum level due to the manner of writing, subtle coloring, complex compositional solution, which tends more towards interior composition than to the genre of still life in the classical interpretation. Valery Lamakh was one of the leading representatives of conceptual art, his works, which are extremely rare on the Ukrainian art market, are saturated with geometric motifs and philosophical overtones. Viktor Zaretsky's work is presented in the selection with a work that incorporates elements of Art Nouveau and fresco painting from the times of Kyivan Rus. This block is completed by two works by Tatyana Yablonskaya from the 1950s-1960s, marked by warmth and lyricism.

A special place in the auction selection this time is occupied by artists of the Odessa school: Yuriy Yegorov, Valentin Khrushch, Konstantin Lomykin. The genre, mythological painting and still life of the artists are distinguished by a subtle regional ability to convey a sense of air, space and light effects. The decoration of the selection was "The Abduction of Europe" by Valentin Khrushch - a rare large-format work of museum level. The work is a variation on the mythological plot of the abduction of Europa by Zeus in the form of a bull and embodies Khrushchev's original manner on the verge of trans-avant-garde.

The art of émigré artists at the 67th auction is represented by works by Isaac Payles, Ivan Babiy, Boris Pastukhov, Frederic Taubes, and Vasyl Khmelyuk. The artists integrated European trends into Ukrainian art. Working outside Ukraine, they continued to develop a national style in combination with Western European and American (in the case of Frederic Taubes) artistic trends. Their style is marked by a constant search for new forms in art.

The top lots of the current auction were rare works: "Still Life with a Capercaillie" by Mykola Hlushchenko (1976), "Mukachevo Castle" by Yosip Bokshay (1940), "Still Life" by Boris Pastukhov (1946), Tatyana Yablonska's genre scene "At the Country House" (1964), "Tree. Origins of Art" by Viktor Zaretsky (1988), "Coffee Escape" by Vadym Ignatov (1994), "Girl, Cone, Ball" by Yuriy Yegorov (1999), "Blue Beard" by Ferenc Seman (1996), "The Abduction of Europe" by Valentin Khrushchev (1990), and an early collector's item by Ivan Marchuk "My thoughts" (1977).
