BEN-ZION (Benzion Weinman, 1897-1987) is an American artist, sculptor, poet and writer. Born in Zhytomyr, in a Jewish family. He emigrated to New York (1920). During the Second World War, he actively promoted Jewish art. Paintings and sculptures on the theme of Judaism became the main areas of artist's art. Among Jewish immigrants in the United States was known as a talented author of poetry, plays and children's fairy tales in Yiddish. He is a member of the American Artists Congress and United American Artists. A participant in many personal and collective exhibitions. Weinman's works are stored in the permanent collections of the New York Museum of Contemporary Art (MoMA), the Metropolitan Museum (MMA), the Newark Art Museum, the Jewish Art Museum in New York, and many well-known private collections. He lived and worked in New York City.
