Gerardia Helen (1903-1988) - American artist of Ukrainian origin. She was born in Yekaterinoslav (now Dnipropetrovsk). Emigrated to the USA (1917). She studied at the New York public school with a profile of art direction. Continued training in the League students-artists. She took lessons in the studio N. Chakbasova. Won a two-year scholarship to study at the Hofmann School in New York (1947) with Hans Hofmann. Attended lectures Brooklyn Museum of Art. Received a medal at an exhibition of watercolor works in gallery «Village Art Centre» California (1951), and then got into the permanent exhibition. 125 Held solo exhibitions in museums, galleries and art centers around the world. Works of the artist are exhibited in 42 museums worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), which gained 8 paintings (1963). Lectured at the Norfolk Museum, Audubon Artists and the National Association of Women Artists, was president of the American Society of Modern Art and a delegate from the US Committee for the International Association of Fine Arts. Overall, 42 received awards.
