Author Biography
Litvinenko Valentin Gavrilovich (1908-1979) - an outstanding Ukrainian graphic artist and painter. People's Artist of the USSR. Born on August 28, 1908 in Kremenchug. Studied at the studio MS Samokish in Simferopol (1929-1930). He studied at a workshop at the Kharkiv Art Institute (1932-1934). Subsequently, he moved to Kiev and joined the artist and retoucher in the newspaper Komsomolets Ukrainy (1934). Studied in the studio IF Seleznev (1934-1935). He was invited to work in the satirical magazine Peretz (1941). The activity of the cartoonist continues in the post-war period - the artist creates a series of "Endangered Varieties of Birds", which figuratively embodies images of feathered human vices and weaknesses (1954). Litvinenko was engaged not only in satirical graphics, but also was a great master of Ukrainian book illustration. Master of color and black and white linseed, he worked in the technique of watercolors and gouache. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. Participant in art exhibitions: Republican (from 1944), All-Union (since 1946), foreign (since 1956). Honored Artist of the USSR (1958). People's Artist of the USSR (1960). Works by Litvinenko V.G. presented in the National Art Museum of Ukraine, in numerous museum, gallery and private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
