Press release

From November 19 to 25, the pre-auction display of the DESIGN AND PHOTO auction collection will be held at the M17 Center for Contemporary Art (Antonovicha St., 104). The exhibition will feature both works by famous masters of the 20th century and contemporary authors.

The exhibits are created from a wide variety of materials (plastic, steel, pressed felt, leather, wood, chrome, fabric, paper, bronze, glass, porcelain), and the collection itself covers most of the object design trends of the last hundred years. In addition to objects, the exhibition will showcase 29 works by domestic photographers - laureates of prestigious international competitions and participants in the biennale.

The pre-auction exhibition will be held from November 19 to 25, and the auction itself will take place on Saturday, November 26.

In total, 96 works of subject design will be demonstrated at the pre-auction exhibition. Art Nouveau and "style 1925" will be represented by a set of furniture by August Wallin, a prominent representative of the Nancy school, a serving table created by the design of the French artist Georges de Fire (the author of the design of the famous Parisian cabaret "Le Chat Noir" in Montmartre) and a radiator from the early 1930s 's by French designer René Coulon. The bronze sculpture "Panther" by the unsurpassed Russian sculptor, a prominent representative of the Art Deco style - Georgy Lavrov, who worked in Paris at the same time as such masters as Aristide Mayol, Emile Antoine Bourdelle and Charles Despiau, stands out in the collection.

Among the most interesting exhibits of domestic designers, it is worth noting the impeccable execution of items by Yuri Ryntovt (“State”, “Chest of drawers on stones”, “Table” and “Stools”) and Vladimir Bondarenko (“Chinese Surprise” set and chest of drawers “Grossmeiter”), conceptual design by Ekaterina Sokolova (pair of ZIG&ZAG chairs) and Andrey Khvorostyanov (object-lamp "Overflow"), "dangerous" chandelier "Tagliente" by Igor Pinigin and floor lamp "Wind" by Valery and Ekaterina Kuznetsov. Also at the pre-auction exhibition will be presented design items from the USSR era: paired bronze lamps of the 1930s, made in the Stalin Empire style, vintage table lamps from the 1970s, blown glass vases and much more. Special attention deserves a block of ceramics from the best masters in porcelain and glass: Boris Danilov, Polina Knight, Igor Matsievsky and others.

An important part of the forthcoming exhibition will be a photography block consisting of 29 works conditionally divided into three groups: landscape (Sergey Mikhalchuk, Maxim Chatsky, Eva Storm), urban photography (Ivan Tsyupka, photographs from the My Steel series by Lesya Malskaya, Anton Cherkashin) and a current photo (the “Mannequins” series by Gleb Vysheslavsky, the “Sculptures” series by Nikita Erphene, Viktor Kudin - the “Metal Corrosion” series, as well as a number of photographs by street artist Alexander Kurmaz (HOMER).

Auction "DESIGN AND PHOTO" will take place on November 26, 2011.
