Press release
On September 23, CCA "M17" will host a commercial auction of classical and contemporary art CLASSIC & CONTEMPORARY ART, organized by the auction house "Golden Section".

Bidding is preceded by an open pre-auction exhibition, which will be held from 19 to 21 September 2015 at Kyiv, st. Antonovich, 102-104, Center for Contemporary Art "M17".

The total number of lots - 110 works.

“In this collection, we have relied on rare works of art that are very difficult to find in the free market. For the first time, the segment of Ukrainian and Russian emigration is widely covered. The names that have gained worldwide fame abroad are now gaining popularity in Ukraine: David Burliuk, Natalia Goncharova, Elizaveta Epshtein, Vasily Khmelyuk, Ruth Gikov, Leopold Gottlieb, Mykola Krichevsky. Among the highlights of the auction is the painting by the first wife of Diego Riviera, an artist of Russian origin, Angelina Belova,” says Mikhail Vasilenko, co-owner of the Golden Section auction house.

The block of classical art of the late 19th - first half of the 20th century is represented by paintings by Sergei Vasilkovsky, Vladimir Orlovsky, Gevork Bashindzhagyan. One of the rare lots of the classical block is the work "Moonlight Night" by the French master Kano, who worked in the workshop of Ivan Aivazovsky.

Soviet art at the auction will be presented by Ukrainian masters - Nikolay Glushchenko, Valentina Tsvetkova, Joseph Bokshay, Andrey Kotska, Evgeny Volobuev.

Bidding will please fans of the Ukrainian sixties. The top lots of this section are paintings by Viktor Zaretsky known among collectors - "Spring" and "Velvet Night". “I think many people will also be interested in the works of Anufry Bizyukov, Ivan Marchuk, Vladimir Miller, Anatoly Turovsky,” says Mikhail Vasilenko.

Top lots of Contemporary Art block: Oleg Golosiy “The Yellow Room”, Maxim Mamsikov “Flight”, Roman Minin “Escape Plan from the Donetsk Region”, Vagrich Bakhchanyan “Reproduction of Personality”, Anatoly Krivolap “Evening. Steppe”, Ruslan Tarabukin “Seated”, Oleg Tistol “Caucasus”.

For collectors who prefer young Ukrainian art, the organizers have prepared a whole "bouquet" of promising young authors: Mikhail Deyak, Anton Logov, Oleg Suslenko, Roman Minin, Daria Mykytyuk, Ksenia Gnilitskaya, Anna Mironova and many others.

“The ratio of works of classical and contemporary art, which will be put up for auction, is approximately the same. Which fully reflects the market demand: now collectors are equally buying classics and young art. Moreover, we see an increase in demand compared to the same period last year by 30-50%,” said Alexei Vasilenko, co-owner of the Golden Section auction house.

Registration for the auction will take place during the pre-auction exhibition or by phone:
