Author Biography
Serhii Hryhoriev (1910-1988) was a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist, an outstanding portraitist and master of thematic paintings. Born in Luhansk. Studied at Kyiv Art School (1928-1932). Professor of Kyiv Art School (1947-1960). He worked in the domestic genre (since 1930). Laureate of the State Prizes of the USSR (1950, 1951). People's Artist of the USSR (1951). Active member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1958). He mainly worked in the genres of portrait and landscape. The artist's works are kept in many museums around the world. Lived and worked in Kyiv.
