Biography
Oskar Kokoschka (1886-1980) - Austrian painter and writer of Czech origin, the most famous figure of the Austrian expressionism. He studied at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts (1903-1909), where among teachers were G. Klimt and Karl Otto Czekh. The works presented in the exhibition of artists-modernists close to Klimt (1908). Friends in Berlin expressionist group "Storm" (1910) and met Kandinsky. In the First World War, was wounded and taken prisoner, was determined by doctors mentally unstable. Professor of the Dresden Academy of Art (1919-1924). His works have participated in the Vienna Biennale (1922, 1932). He lived and worked in Prague (1934), after the Munich Agreement - Great Britain (1938, received citizenship in 1946), Switzerland (1947). The works presented at the exhibition in Vienna with paintings of Klimt and Schiele (1945), in Bern (1947). In Venice Biennale, he was given a separate room (1952). He taught at the Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg (1952-1963). Exhibitor Contemporary Art "Document" (1955, 1959, 1964). In 1960 acted as a stage designer, a graphic designer working in television. Winner of Erasmus. Major retrospective exhibition of works by Kokoschka were held in London and New York (1981, 1986).
