Biography
Manevich Abram (1881-1942) was a Ukrainian, Belarusian, and American artist of Jewish descent. He studied at the Kyiv Art School (1901-1905). He received a three-year scholarship to study in Munich (1904), where his first exhibition (1907) took place at the Kunst Verein Gallery. One of the founders and first professors of the Ukrainian Academy of Arts. He worked abroad for five years: in France, Switzerland, Italy, England (1909-1913), then emigrated to the United States (1920). Based on the achievements of Impressionism, he painted urban landscapes, in particular Kyiv. He created a series of urban landscapes "Prosaic America", which showed the contrasts of the modern city (1925-1927).
