Biography of the author

Rybachuk Ada (1931–2010) is a Ukrainian artist and graphic artist. She was born in Kyiv. Member of NSHU. She studied at the Kyiv Art High School (1945-1950), which she graduated with a gold medal. She graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute (1957), where she studied with O. Shovkunenko. Together with her husband V. Melnychenko, she makes long-term trips to the North (since 1954). During 1955-1958, she created a series of illustrations (mainly linocuts) for children's publications and paintings from the North. Since the 1960s, she worked in the field of monumental and decorative art, painting, graphics. Participation in republican, all-Union, and foreign exhibitions (since 1957), including the OAU (1958), Czechoslovakia (1957, 1958), Finland, Hungary, Yugoslavia (1961), Italy (1962), Iraq (1963), Afghanistan (1964) ), Mongolia (1964), Poland (1967), USA (1977, 1995), Bulgaria (1985), Hungary (1985), GDR (1986), Norway (1993) and many others. Striving to create an art museum in the city, together with the artist V. Melnychenko, she donated 118 works to the city in 1959, and 33 more in 1979. Honorary member of the National Academy of Culture and Human Values ​​(USA, 1995). Honorary member of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine (1999). Honorary citizen of Naryan-Mar (1998).
