Biography of the author

Nadia Benois (1896-1975), a Russian and English artist, was born in St. Petersburg to the family of architect Leonti Benois. Studied at the New Art Workshop (1914-1915) with O. Yakovlev and V. Shukhaev; in the Petrograd Free Art Workshops (1917-1919) by V. Shukhaev. She moved to England with her husband (1920), where she began to paint landscapes of England, Ireland, Wales, as well as France and Italy while traveling. The artist's works have a characteristic impressionistic style. Also engaged in graphics and set design. Participated in many group exhibitions in London, Paris, USA, Canada, Australia. Has held personal exhibitions in the galleries of Adelphi (1924), Arthur Tus (1929, 1932, 1936). The artist's works are housed in many private collections and museums, including the Tate Gallery in London and the Benoit Family Museum in St. Petersburg.
