UKRAINIAN AND RUSSIAN ART OF THE XX-XXI CENTURIES.
September 9, 2011 "Golden Section" opens the autumn auction season. The pre-auction exhibition "Ukrainian and Russian Classical Art" presents masterpieces of painting and graphics of the 19th-20th centuries - a total of 174 works by key Ukrainian and Russian artists.
The collection selected by the experts of the auction house covers a wide range of development of Ukrainian and Russian art over the past two centuries. Significant works from all key areas of the period will be presented at the auction:

Among the most interesting lots are a watercolor landscape by the poet and artist Maximilian Voloshin, a key figure of the Silver Age, with a dedicatory inscription for Marina Tsvetaeva; and painting by Andrey Schilder, one of the most talented students of Ivan Shishkin.
Collectors will be presented with "August" by Viktor Zaretsky, one of the most iconic and large-scale works of the author among those exhibited at Ukrainian auctions to date, selected works by avant-garde stars David Burliuk and Vasily Yermilov, a rare work by the key artist of the Soviet underground Anatoly Zverev.
The special lots of the current auction are drawings by one of the leading masters of art deco, Erte from St. Petersburg, who created costumes for Anna Pavlova and Mata Hari, and also designed more than a hundred covers of cult magazines Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
