Auction #62
UKRAINIAN CONTEMPORARY ART
Press release
Auction "Ukrainian contemporary art: from the New Wave to the present"
From June 28 to July 5, the Goldens auction house together with the investment and development company TARYAN GROUP will present the second joint POP-UP project: the auction "Ukrainian Contemporary Art: From the New Wave to the Present".
The selection of works covers a fairly wide time range - from the formation of modern art in the late 1980s - early 1990s to the works of 2024 and includes the works of authors significant for the history of Ukrainian art, including: Oleksandr Zhivotkov, Ivan Marchuk, Kyrylo Protsenko, Oleg Tistol, Serhii Panych, Oksana Mas, Volodymyr Manzhos, Marko Geiko, Leonid Kozlov, Nina Murashkina, Anatoliy Kryvolap.
The top lots of the collection were the works of Oleksandr Roitburd, Valeria Trubina, Oleg Holosiy, Viktor Sydorenko, Arsen Savadov, and Vasyl Tsagolov. Most of the works belong to the early periods of the artists' creativity and are unique collection objects.
The selection reflects the impact of political and social transformations that Ukraine is still experiencing, starting from the 1980s, and represents the liberation of artistic language through rebellion, the transition to the search for new methods of artistic expression and the formation of the own pictorial language of modern Ukrainian artists.
The exhibition included the works of representatives of the Ukrainian New Wave: the squat "Paris Commune", the trans-avant-garde, the creative group "Painting Reserve", the union of artists "BZh-ART", the group R.E.P.
The early works of Serhii Panych, Oleksandr Roitburd, Viktor Sydorenko, Arsen Savadov, Valeria Trubina, Ivan Marchuk, and Les Podervyansky demonstrate experiments with form and content, line and color.
In the works of Leonid Kozlov, Pyotr Lebedynets, Kyril Protsenko, Hanna Kryvolap, Max Vityk, and Yuriy Koval, the creative search of the turn of the century acquires completion and clearly expressed directions of its development: abstraction, hyperrealism, conceptual art, emphasis on the harmony of color and structure.
The painting block is complemented by the sculptural works of Nina Murashkina, Yuriy Bagalika, Nazar Bilyk and Serhiy Manzhos. Each of these artists makes a unique contribution to the development of modern Ukrainian sculptural art, expanding its boundaries and generating interest both in Ukraine and beyond.
In addition, each work of the exposition is of interest not only to art connoisseurs, but also to investors who consider the perspective of long-term capital investment and are in search of reliable assets for their investments. The active integration of contemporary art into the global context also contributes to its popularization at the international level and will add weight to the gathering.
The auction will last for 9 days online on the website of the auction house (https://gs-art.com/) and offline in the space of the penthouse in the first tower of the ultra-modern residential complex Taryan Towers.
Bidding will be completed online on the website of the Goldens auction house.
