Author Biography
Rybachuk Ada (1931–2010) is a Ukrainian artist and graphic artist. She was born in Kyiv. Member of NSHU. She studied at the Kyiv Art High School (1945-1950), which she graduated with a gold medal. She graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute (1957), where she studied with O. Shovkunenko. Together with her husband V. Melnychenko, she makes long-term trips to the North (since 1954). During 1955-1958, she created a series of illustrations (mainly linocuts) for children's publications and paintings from the North. Since the 1960s, she worked in the field of monumental and decorative art, painting, graphics. Participation in republican, all-Union, and foreign exhibitions (since 1957), including the OAU (1958), Czechoslovakia (1957, 1958), Finland, Hungary, Yugoslavia (1961), Italy (1962), Iraq (1963), Afghanistan (1964) ), Mongolia (1964), Poland (1967), USA (1977, 1995), Bulgaria (1985), Hungary (1985), GDR (1986), Norway (1993) and many others. Striving to create an art museum in the city, together with the artist V. Melnychenko, she donated 118 works to the city in 1959, and 33 more in 1979. Honorary member of the National Academy of Culture and Human Values ​​(USA, 1995). Honorary member of the Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine (1999). Honorary citizen of Naryan-Mar (1998). Volodymyr Melnychenko (1932-2023) was a Ukrainian artist, sculptor, and architect. Born in Kyiv. Graduated from Kyiv art school named after Shevchenko (1950); Kyiv Art Institute (1957), where he studied with M. Sharonov, T. Yablonska, and K. Trokhymenko. Honored Artist of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, member of the All-Ukrainian Creative Union "Congress of Writers of Ukraine", honorary member of the National Union of Cinematographers of Ukraine, honorary member of the People's Academy of Culture and Human Values (USA). He worked in architecture, sculpture, painting, graphics, artistic photography, monumental art: mosaic, ceramics, metal, design, plastic modeling. The author of screenplays for documentaries. Husband of artist Ada Rybachuk. Lived and worked in Kyiv.
