Author Biography
Mykhailo Zhuk (1883-1964) was a Ukrainian painter and graphic artist. He studied at the Kyiv Murashko Art School with H. Platonov and M. Pymonenko; in Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture; Krakow Academy of Sciences (1904). Taught at the Odesa Art School (1925-1953), became professor (since 1917). He worked in the field of easel painting, book graphics. Together with G. Narbut and F. Krychevskyi, he stood at the origins of the higher art school in Ukraine.
