Press release

March 17, 2012, at 14.00 in the HEC "Art-Donbass" auction house "Golden Section" for classical art. The pre-auction show will last 7 days from March 10 to March 16 (11.00-18.00) at the address: Donetsk, st. Chelyuskintsev, 189, HVC "Art-Donbass".

The collection of the auction "Classical Art" includes more than 150 lots, among which the audience and buyers will see paintings by prominent Ukrainian, Russian and Western European artists of the 19th-21st centuries.

Conventionally, the collection is divided into several blocks: Classical art of the XIX - early. XX century, classical art of the Soviet and modern periods, unofficial art of the XX century (avant-garde, underground, non-conformism) and European art of the XIX-XX centuries.

Truly collectible works of the upcoming auction are undoubtedly the works: "Trinity-Sergius Lavra" 1905 by K. Gorbatov, "Country Holiday" by I. Pryanishnikov, created in the 1880s, a lyrical landscape by the famous Ukrainian impressionist N. Burachek, a genre painting by a Russian academician N. Bodarevsky, a fabulously beautiful landscape by Y. Klever, watercolor by V. Yermilov "Youth" 1960, as well as reference works of the classics of Ukrainian painting: N. Glushchenko, V. Chegodar, P. Stolyarenko, L. Kramarenko, N. Krichevsky , O. Novakivsky, E. Bukovetsky, O. Kulchitskaya and many others.

The painting "Trinity-Sergius Lavra" by K. Gorbatov is one of the few early reference works, written in 1915, even before traveling around Europe. The preliminary estimate is $100,000 - $150,000. Recall that quite recently, in 2009, at Sotheby’s auction, most of the works of K. Gorbatov from the famous American collection were sold, and although most of them were of the late period, the sale prices exceeded the 200,000 barrier per work.

"Village Holiday" by I. Pryanishnikov, created in the 1880s, also belongs to the most valuable period of the author. This work is a preliminary version of the work of the same name, one of the most significant paintings by I. Pryanishnikov, exhibited in 1880 at the 8th exhibition of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions and now stored in the Irkutsk Art Museum. According to the well-known Moscow expert V. Petrov, this work differs from the final version in a number of significant details and high artistic merit, which help to better understand the creative process of the great painter I. Pryanishnikov. The estimate of this top lot will be: 80,000 - 120,000 $.

The pearls of the collection, as well as, according to the organizers, works that can cause serious auctions, can be called the paintings "At the Window" by Nikolai Glushchenko and "Chumak" by Viktor Zaretsky.

“At the Window” is one of Glushchenko’s rare and extraordinarily “live” works, made at the peak of his creative upsurge in 1969. Estimated 40,000 – 60,000 $.

Genre painting "Chumak" 1973 by Viktor Zaretsky, refers to the "pre-Klimt" period of the artist and is of great collector's interest. It came to auction from a private collection in the UK. This work was exhibited at all the main exhibitions of V. Zaretsky until 1992 and is included in the list of all his catalogs. It certainly reflects the nature of his painting and the creative power of this unsurpassed painter. Estimated: 55,000 – 65,000 $.

This time Golden Section will not be limited to showing only in Donetsk. For Kyiv viewers and clients of the house will be shown the most significant auction lots on March 1, 2012 at 19:00 in the CCA "M17" at the address: Kyiv, st. Antonovich (Gorky), 104.

Also, for interested clients, from March 2 to 5, interesting lots can be viewed in the showroom of the Golden Section auction house at the address: Kyiv, st. Staronavodnitskaya, 29. To do this, you must first arrange a meeting by phone: (044) 240-95-32, (044) 386-81-81 warning which lots you need to show.
