Author Biography
Hovsep Pushman (1877-1966) is an American artist of Armenian origin, a master of still life and a portrait painter. Member of the American Association of the Arts of Paris, member of the California Art Club, Honored Member of the Union of Artists of Armenia. Since 1923 he has been continuously working in New York. From 1926 he exhibited his works at the Artistes Francais in Paris, received a bronze medal (1914) and a silver medal (1921). Participant in exhibitions in New York, Boston and Chicago. The annual exhibitions of Hovsep Pushman in the Grand Central Art Galleries in New York have always been a significant event. He was one of the founders of the California artist group Laguna Beach. Honorary member of the Union of Artists of Armenia (1928). Pushman works are exhibited in many museums around the world (Metropolitan Museum, Museum of Fine Arts (Boston), Seattle Art Museum, Houston Museum of Art, Minneapolis Art Institute), and also in private collections.
