Author Biography
Alexandra Exter (1882-1949) - a well-known Ukrainian artist, graphic artist, designer and theatrical decorator, teacher. Alexandra Exter (in her virginity Grigorovich) was born in Bialystok (now Poland), childhood and adolescence were held in Kiev. Here she began her artistic education, joining the student at the Kiev Art School (1901). One of the mentors of a young artist was the famous Ukrainian artist M. Pymonenko. After graduation, he continued his education in Paris. Visited the art academy of Grand Shomier (1907). Since then, the so-called "Parisian period" of the life and work of the artist, which lasted until 1914, began. Many traveled to France, Switzerland, Italy, for a short time returning to Kiev, Odessa, Moscow and St. Petersburg. In Paris he actively participated in modernization: his works were exhibited at the Salon of the Independents and at the Golden Section (1912) exhibition - the most important artistic event that liberated the Cubofutur painting from close "geometric" frames.
