Author Biography
Ostafiichuk Ivan (born 1940) - Ukrainian artist, graphic artist, winner of the Shevchenko Prize (2007). Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine. Graduated from the Vyzhnytska School of Applied Arts (1960) and the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (1965) at the Textile Department. He studied at Karl Zvirynskyi and Roman Selskyi. Abandoned the title "Honored Artist of Ukraine". He emigrated to Croatia (1987), then to Canada (1988). Has held solo exhibitions in Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and other cities in Canada and the United States. Particular attention deserves a series of illustrations to the verses of Taras Shevchenko "In the casemates" (1987). He was awarded the gold medal of the IX Biennale of Graphic Arts in Brno (Czechoslovakia) in 1989, the winner of the Literary and Artistic Award named after Marko Chermeshyna (2014). Since 1992 he has lived and worked in Lviv.
