Press release
Despite the unfavorable conditions of the pandemic, the auction house "Zolotoe Sechenie" will hold an auction of classic and contemporary art under the name Classic and Contemporary art.

The traditional pre-auction exhibition will start its work on November 23. Bids will be accepted in the "silent auction" mode. Collectors will be able to see the exhibition during the week, until December 1 inclusive. Due to the situation in the country, the auction will take place online on the website of the auction house. Those interested will be able to compete for the works they liked in the exhibition hall, subject to prior registration.

Classical and modern art will be presented equally (a total of 30 lots in the exposition), but the selection of authors is very diverse - from classical works of museum level of the beginning of the 20th century. to the works of modern authors created recently.

For the Kyiv auction house, this is not the first experience of online bidding. A similar auction was held last summer, where, despite the situation in the country and the world, a number of works were sold with togas. Thus, the canvases of the modern classic Ivan Marchuk went off the hammer with a significant excess of the estimate (average estimated value on the art market). Two of his painting masterpieces will be presented at the upcoming auction: "Autumn" from 1994 with a starting price of $20,000 with an estimated value of $40,000-50,000 and "Houses Illuminated by Moonlight", 1983 (estimated at $15,000-20,000, starting price $ 13,500). The latest work comes from the collection of Ukrainian writer and public figure Oles Honchar. Viktor Zaretskyi's canvas "Golden Sun" also comes from his family collection. But this is not the only work of the master that will be presented at the auction. The masterpiece "Spring Has Come" from 1988, known to all connoisseurs, which was presented at many exhibitions and published in all publications about Zaretskyi, will also be available for purchase at the auction (starting price $15,000).

The collection of the forty-sixth auction is particularly distinguished by the fact that the organizers managed to find a number of outstanding works from the private collections of outstanding figures of Ukrainian literature of the 20th century. So, with the same estimate of $15-20 thousand, paintings by Tatiana Yablonska will be exhibited: "Late Autumn", 1979 and "Old Willows", 1975. These works by artists, as well as Mykola Hlushchenko's bright canvas "Rest" (the work was presented at the author's personal exhibition in 1976 and published in the project catalog), previously belonged to the writer, Hero of Ukraine, Pavlo Zagrebelny. And one of the most important lots of the auction collection as a whole will be Serhiy Vasylkivskyi's work "Upper" (estimated at $20-25 thousand), which until now was owned by the family of the poet Maksym Rylskyi. It is interesting that a photo of Rylskyi himself has been preserved, working in his office, and in the background you can see Vasylkivskyi's work put up for auction.

Classical painting will be presented by world-renowned artist Ivan Aivazovsky. His painting "Steam Frigate on a Moonlit Night" (XIX century) with an estimate of $ 30-40 thousand can be contested starting from an attractive starting price of $ 18 thousand (Aivazovsky's works are sold for millions of dollars at Sotheby's and Christie's auctions). In addition, the works of such artists as David Burlyuk and Yukhim Cheptsov will be exhibited in the block of classical art.

Among the top lots of the contemporary art section of the auction: a seascape by Anatoly Hankevich, made in a unique recognizable manner, as if created from a mosaic (est. $ 12-15 thousand); an impressive relief by Oleksandr Sukholit on the author's traditional theme of motherhood (est. $5-7,000); a sculpture by Nazar Bilyk, which can become a profitable investment, as Bilyk's works increase in price every year; an elegant still life with a camellia (est. $5-7000) by Valeria Trubina, a representative of the "new wave" of Ukrainian modern art; a three-dimensional work by Roman Minin with a symbolic image of the birth of a miner (est. $6-8,000) and a bright landscape by a modern follower of the traditions of the Transcarpathian art school Mykhailo Deyak (est. $6-8,000).

In total, about 30 lots are put up for auction, you can see the full catalog of lots and participate in the auction on the website www.gs-art.com. The auction will end on December 1 at 19:00.

In the conditions of the pandemic, the entrance to the exhibition will be partially limited - no more than 12 people can be in the hall at the same time. A mandatory condition for visiting the exhibition is the presence of a mask.
