From the series "News", 2022
paper, rubber paint
29 x 42 cm
This series, which contains more than 150 works in A3 format, became an obsessive practice for the author in the spring of 2022 during the full-scale invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine. This is an intuitive, "hysterical" creation in an effort to express the excess of everything that is happening around. Usually, the artist spends a lot of time thinking, weighing, searching, that is, he works long and thoughtfully. Quick expression is uncharacteristic for him, but this method became almost the only one possible under the impact of the events of the war.

These images are remarkably similar, the black outlines of thick smoke seem to be repeated from work to work. They are uniform, but not the same. Traces of explosions and conflagrations vary, each act of aggression, each tragedy is unique. At the same time, endless news about war horrors turn into a unanimous array of horrors and internal breakdowns. Works from the "News" series were part of a project presented at the Pinchuk Art Center in the fall of 2022.
