Author Biography
Maximilian Voloshyn (1877-1932) is a Ukrainian and Russian artist, symbolist poet, translator, art critic, and art critic. Born in Kyiv. He studied at the Feodosia Gymnasium and at the Faculty of Law of Moscow University (1897-1899). He attended lectures at the Sorbonne (early 1900s), and also took drawing and engraving lessons from the artist E. Kruglykova. He lived in the city of Koktebel, where he created numerous landscapes in the technique of watercolor painting, to many of them he wrote poetic signatures (since 1916). Turned his house in Koktebel into a free house of creativity (1924). "House-Museum of M. Voloshin" was solemnly opened in Koktebel (1984).
