Jean-Louis Forain (1852-1931) was a French Impressionist artist, graphic artist, and book illustrator. He studied in Paris at the School of Fine Arts, first with Jean-Leon Jerome, and then with Jean-Baptiste Carpo. In 1879, Foren first took part in the Impressionist exhibition and became its youngest participant. For more than 35 years he has collaborated with the most famous French publications, such as Le Figaro and L'Echo de Paris, and has been the publisher of his own comedy magazines. He worked in many techniques, but preferred graphics. The works of Jean-Louis Foren were inspired by such famous masters as Edgar Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec. He lived and worked in Paris.
